Leonardo Bonucci rejoins Juventus and Gonzalo Higuain joins AC Milan

Gonzalo Higuain

Alessio Romagnoli is confident that AC Milan can cope with the abrupt departure of Leonardo Bonucci and has welcomed the capture of Gonzalo Higuain, labelling the striker "one of the strongest players in the world".

"But I think that with this team, these young boys and players like Higuain and Caldara, we can do well".

Instead, Higuain left Juventus and joined Milan on an initial one-year loan deal worth £16million. When you speak to players, nobody tells you they don't want to come.

"In total sincerity, the esteem I have for Sarri is huge but he was the only who wanted me".

"When I speak with players I find that because of the history Milan has, it's hard for the players to say no I don't want to come here". I want to help get Milan as high as possible.

Bonucci spent a single season with the Rossoneri, returning to the Serie A champions with Mattia Caldara and Gonzalo Higuain both moving to San Siro.

The 30-year-old has won Serie A and Coppa Italia titles in each of his two seasons with Juventus and scored 55 goals in 105 appearances in all competitions, including 40 goals in 73 outings in Serie A. It will be a great opportunity for me to play beside him. So what motivation could there possibly be for Higuain to make such a shocking move and leave a club where he was winning constantly and so adored by supporters?

"I can only spend words of thanks to the Juventus fans".

He then joined Juve for €90m when they activated a release clause in his contract, making him the most expensive transfer in Italian football at the time.

"All top teams aims for top players", Brazilian Leonardo said.

"He was someone that not only gave you quality but he also gave you quantity".
