Margot Kidder's daughter makes mental health appeal

The entertainment site quoted the Park County Coroner as saying that Kidder died from an intentional drug and alcohol overdose.

The Park County Coroner says Kidder's overdose was self-inflicted.

Margot Kidder, known for playing Lois Lane in the Christopher Reeve Superman movies, recently died this past May, with the cause of death now revealed to be suicide. The Coroner has not specified what drugs she took.

Kidder was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and eventually suffered a public nervous breakdown in 1996 after facing several career setbacks in the early 1990s, including a vehicle crash which resulted in her being paralyzed for two years.

The AP also reports that the Superman actress was living in a state of chaos in her final years, as her attempts to provide refuge for those in need resulted in authorities being called to her home 40 times between August 2016 and her death. "It's a big relief that the truth is out there", she told them.

Kidder was found May 13 in her home in the U.S. state of Montana. "It's important to be open and honest so there's not a cloud of shame in dealing with this".

Hollywood has been rocked by suicides this year, with Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain also taking their own lives.

Kidder was born in Canada and spent decades acting in movies and television shows before and after Superman, including Some Kind of Hero, The L Word and Smallville. I want what I know about her to be out there because it was glorious.

Diagnosed with bipolar disorder, the actress became an activist for mental health issues as well as a champion of left-wing causes.

"It's a very unique sort of grief and pain". A friend discovered Kidder's body at her home on May 13th. She reprised the high-profile role in the three more films in the franchise.
