Trump says Special Counsel Mueller has conflicts

One day after President Donald Trump stripped former Central Intelligence Agency director John Brennan of his security clearance, the commander of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden said it would be an honor if the president would take away his own clearance next.

On Friday evening, another group of 60 former intelligence officers released their own letter criticizing the use of security clearance as a political tool.

Adm. William McRaven made the request in a letter to Trump, published Thursday in The Washington Post, one day after the president canceled Brennan's security clearance.

Former US security officials yesterday issued scathing rebukes to Mr Trump for moving against Mr Brennan. It should gravely worry all Americans, including intelligence professionals, about the cost of speaking out.

The president also told reporters he was likely to revoke the clearance of Bruce Ohr, a Department of Justice official who is linked to a dossier on Trump's campaign and Russian Federation compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele.

"It's nearly as if the president is connecting the dots for Robert Mueller", Tapper said, according to The Hill, adding that "despite the best efforts of the White House staff to act as if this decision was about protecting classified information, President Trump made it clear it was actually about punishing one of his fiercest critics".

President Trump suspects he’ll revoke Ohr’s clearance ‘very quickly’
In the statement , the officials call the move "unprecedented" and caution against using security clearances as a political tool. I have never respected him. "I think the whole Manafort trial is very sad".

Petraeus, one of the signers, was once considered by Trump as a candidate for secretary of state. "What they do represent, however, is our firm belief that the country will be weakened if there is a political litmus test applied before seasoned experts are allowed to share their views". On Friday, former Director of National Intelligence Denny Blair, who briefly served as Obama's first DNI, and former deputy CIA director Porter Goss, signed the letter.

McRaven tells Trump that he would consider it an honor if the president would revoke his security clearance as well so he can add his name to the list of individuals who have spoken out against Trump's presidency.

Hours earlier, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders denied that Brennan and others are being singled out because they are critics of Trump.

He continued: "I think he's abusing the powers of that office". He is a man of unparalleled integrity, whose honesty and character have never been in question, except by those who don't know him.

As Hill Reporter covered yesterday, legal analysts say that a president getting involved in the process of revoking security clearances, especially without going through the usual channels, is utterly unprecedented, and could result in legal battles to determine whether Trump actually has that power.

"Bruce Ohr is a disgrace". "Very, very important. I've had a tremendous response for having done that". Trump said, nevertheless, that Mueller should be allowed to finish a report on Russia's interference in the 2016 US presidential election.
