Upon Investigation, Seems Twitter Isn't Following Its Own Rules With Alex Jones

Jones later repeatedly apologized to the families in his videos. And Spotify said, "The Alex Jones Show has lost access to the Spotify platform".

A set of new rules on "hateful conduct and abusive behavior", implemented by Twitter at the end of past year, added additional content, such as "hateful imagery", to the category of material banned because it constitutes "specific threats of violence or wishing for serious physical harm, death, or disease to an individual or group of people".

What's more, Twitter's vice president for trust and safety Del Harvey reportedly said in an internal email that if Jones had demonstrated some of the behavior on Twitter that he had on Facebook and YouTube, he would definitely have been booted. Further suspensions piled up a day later - YouTube and Facebook said they removed his main outlets, as NPR reported, "citing repeated violations of policies against hate speech and glorifying violence". We guess it is a good market for Apple - after all Infowars readers are not very bright and likely to do something dumb like buying an overpriced phone.

Jones has achieved infamy and financial success for spreading lies, such as that many mass shootings are government hoaxes and Democrats run a global child-sex ring. It has suggested that the Sandy Hook massacre was a hoax, and that the September 11 terrorist attacks were an inside job orchestrated by the USA government.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Sullivan's order meant the taxpayer wound up paying for a needless round-trip flight. It argues the administration is wrongly rejecting asylum claims based on domestic abuse and gang violence.

Jones' podcasts differed from the Infowars app in a key way. The app lets users stream broadcasts which don't remain on the app, making them harder to review for policy violations, whereas the podcasts are archived and easily reviewable. In an apparent reference to other tech companies, he added that Twitter would not "succumb and simply react to outside pressure".

"They, like other platforms where consumers can post their views on any given topic, are struggling to reconcile their sense of themselves as a platform with the reality that they are more like media companies", Brian Wieser, senior analyst at Pivotal Research Group, tells Mobile Insider.

The right to free speech does not include the right to harass and persecute innocent people, as Jones has done numerous times - including his attempts to target survivors of the Parkland school shooting. That may open the door to lawsuits that the companies previously dodged by claiming that as neutral platforms they're not responsible for user-created content. This followed news that the company had shared the data of 87 million users with political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica. The fringe broadcaster has used social media to push conspiracy theories, including that the Sandy Hook massacre was faked, as well as hateful and false comments toward immigrants, transgender people and the Black Lives Matter movement.

Removing the hate-mongering Alex Jones from his platforms is a huge step forward in the fight against fake news. Get started by checking out these guidelines and soon you'll find the Care2 community signing up to support you.
