Wrong Tommy Fleetwood gets paid over $150000 for British Open

The real Tommy Fleetwood prepares for the PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club after his Open Championship

An error by a clerk for the European Golf Tour mistakenly wired the Tommy's $154,480 winnings to Thomas' Wells Fargo account, according to a report on the website Golf.com.

Fleetwood has finished no worse than 17th in this year's three major championships to date, most famously carding a record-equalling final round of 63 in June's US Open to finish just a shot behind the victor, Brooks Koepka.

The freaky situation came to light on the eve of the 100th PGA Championship, where 11th-ranked Fleetwood will try to win his first major title at Bellerive Country Club.

Golf Digest have confirmed that this situation, is, in fact, true and to his enormous credit, Fleetwood is laughing the whole thing off.

"Tommy got on to his bank immediately and they didn't know what to say".

"It was an honest mistake", he said. It looks pretty genuine and they are looking into it and I'm sure they'll feel pretty bad about it.

Another quake rocks Lombok; Death toll at 259
But some evacuees have complained of being ignored or experiencing long delays for supplies to arrive at shelters. A witness said the latest quake sent people into the streets in panic and caused buildings to collapse.

What would you do if this money was deposited in your account?

The American Tommy Fleetwood shared a screenshot showing he had been credited $154,480 by the European Tour.

It is believed the European Tour, who along with the PGA Tour are in charge of sending out prize money to the players, already had the former pro's bank account details because he had competed in Challenger Events in Europe decades ago.

The European Tour apologized to Fleetwood, the one playing this week at the PGA Championship at Bellerive, calling it a "clerical error".

"Back in '89 I played a tournament, I can't remember if it was the European or Challenge tour", Thomas said.

"It's just something I don't really look at, but I'll get on top of that!". It's a amusing story.
