You Can Now Set Spotify Songs as Your Alarm in Google Clock

Google Clock app can now use Spotify for alarms

Google's new music streaming service called YouTube Music was launched earlier this year.

Google has announced the Clock app now supports Spotify.

Google has begun rolling out an update to its stock Clock app that integrates Spotify so you can choose your own song to wake up to in the morning. Well, Google might have just got the flawless solution for you.

Clock apps are probably the least exciting thing to talk about, but without a doubt, one of the best ones is the official Google Clock. The integration might also help Spotify to gain more users as someone who uses a different client or service for music streaming might now opt to use Spotify in favor of the new alarm feature.

Under the Spotify tab, you can choose from "Recently Played" music, and curated morning playlists termed "Rise and Shine". Those with a premium Spotify account can select any track, album, artist, or playlist in the company's catalog to wake up to. It's now available to devices that are running Android 5.0 Lollipop and above in the 65 markets where Spotify is currently available.

We basically got to a point where we felt like what we had was good, ready to see the light of day.

The news follows mounting competition against Apple Music, with Roy Morgan asserting YouTube Music is a major threat to Spotify's dominance.

Once the alarm goes off, and you turn it off, you have the option to continue listening to Spotify. The feature is available to both free and premium Spotify users, but you will be required to have the Spotify app installed and connected to an account for this to work.
