'60 Minutes' chief Jeff Fager leaves CBS amid harassment accusations

'60 Minutes' executive producer Jeff Fager out at CBS

Jeff Fager, the longtime executive producer of "60 Minutes" who was sacked on Wednesday, sent a text message to CBS News correspondent Jericka Duncan with a warning over the network's coverage of the sexual harassment accusations against him.

Jeff Fager, the executive producer of the flagship CBS news program, "60 Minutes", has left the network. At least a dozen women came forward to accuse Moonves of sexual misconduct in a pair of New Yorker articles authored by Farrow. Late past year, former "CBS This Morning" host Charlie Rose was sacked after more than 2 dozen women accused him of sexual misconduct.

Fager faced accusations in a July report in The New Yorker about unwanted touching by employees, but he has denied those accusations.

CBS said in an internal memo that, although the allegations are not directly related to Fager's termination, the company is still conducting an independent investigation into the matter.

Rhodes said Fager violated company policy but did not specify the policy. A CBS News reporter working on a story about Fager revealed that he had sent her a text message urging her to "be careful".

It was shortly after outlets began to pick up the news of Fager's exit that he released a statement of his own, in light of CBS News' refusing to comment on his specific violation. "One such note should not result in termination after 36 years, but it did", he said.

England captain Harry Kane to be rested for Switzerland friendly
Eric Dier, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fabian Delph will start in midfield, while Danny Welbeck joins Rashford up front. Frustration: Rashford has found opportunities at Old Trafford hard to come by.

"If you repeat these false accusations without any of your own reporting to back them up you will be held responsible for harming me", Fager replied. "There are people who lost their jobs trying to harm me, and if you pass on these damaging claims without your own reporting to back them up, that will become a serious problem, '" Duncan said. It was. I'll have more reporting on this tonight, ' she wrote on Twitter. Rose had been a co-anchor since 2012 on "CBS This Morning" and a contributing correspondent on "60 Minutes".

In response to that allegation, Fager told CBS News, "This is an outrageous claim and it didn't happen".

Mr Fager, 63, called the claims "false", and said they "do not stand up to editorial scrutiny". 60 Minutes is the most significant news broadcast on television.

In a new story on Sunday, Farrow cited a former intern who said that Fager once groped her at an office function and described the culture as "sexist" and a "boy's club". Fager, who was named in reports about tolerating an abusive workplace at CBS, stepped down today.

CBS is now the most-watched network in the US.
