Accuser of USA high-court nominee Kavanaugh goes public

Judge Brett Kavanaugh being sworn in at his confirmation hearings

I'm sorry for what she endured as a teenager.

She also told Feinstein she had "received medical treatment regarding the assault", but did not specify further in the letter. She says she was able to get away after Kavanaugh's friend jumped on top of them and everyone tumbled.

"I thought he might inadvertently kill me", said Ford, now a 51-year-old research psychologist in northern California. "These are all the ills that I was trying to avoid".

The two, as well as several other friends, began drinking, although she said Kavanaugh and his friend, Mark Judge, had started earlier than the group. She was reluctant to come forward.

In the interview, Ford says she never revealed what had happened to her until 2012, when she and her husband sought couples therapy.

Mrs Ford, a professor of psychology at Palo Alto University, detailed her allegations in the Washington Post at the weekend. The notes say four boys were involved, a discrepancy Ford says was an error on the therapist's part.

"Instead, they said nothing during two joint phone calls with the nominee in August, four days of lengthy public hearings, a closed session for all committee members with the nominee where sensitive topics can be discussed and in more than 1,300 written questions", Grassley said. Ford also said the attack caused her lasting psychological trauma.

Kellyanne Conway, senior counselor to President Donald Trump, responded to the news on Monday and said Ford "should not be ignored or insulted". Kavanaugh would be replacing retired Supreme Court justice Anthony Kennedy.

The White House on Friday released a statement from Kavanaugh in which the nominee said, "I categorically and unequivocally deny this allegation".

Supporting cast fails Kirk Cousins in intro to Packers-Vikings rivalry
Thielen had 12 catches for 131 yards for Minnesota (1-0-1), while Diggs had nine catches for 128 yards and two scores. And though the Packers remain unbeaten two weeks into the season, Rodgers admits the tie is nearly as bad as losing.

It's the first concrete signal that Ford's allegation will have an impact on Kavanaugh's appointment.

The White House did not immediately reply to a request for comment on Sunday.

Reached by email Sunday, Judge declined to comment.

Democrats are now demanding a delay on the Kavanaugh vote in light of Ford's story.

From Judge: "It's just absolutely nuts", he said.

I've seen this movie before. Only after women lawmakers in the House of Representatives marched over to the Senate to demand that Hill's allegations be considered was his confirmation delayed for a new set of hearings.

She alleges that Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed one summer in the 1980s and forced himself on her. A registered Democrat who has made small contributions to political organizations, she contacted her congresswoman, Democrat Anna Eshoo, around the same time. He said the committee's top Democrat, Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, who was first notified of the allegation in late July, should have brought the matter to the panel earlier.

"Katz said Ford originally had "a great deal of ambivalence" about coming forward and had chose to keep her allegations confidential, but "that decision was essentially taken away from her as those allegations were leaked" and members of the press began approaching her. Katz said Ford stood by her story, and that now she had come forward, they expected serious opposition". She signed the letter as Christine Blasey, the name she uses professionally. Asked if that included testimony under oath at a public hearing before senators, Katz told CBS's "This Morning" program: "She's willing to do what she needs to do". On the advice of Katz, who believed Ford would be attacked as a liar if she came forward, Ford took a polygraph test administered by a former Federal Bureau of Investigation agent in early August. The results, which Katz provided to the Post, concluded that Ford was being truthful when she said a statement summarizing her allegations was accurate.

Katz said they want the Senate to treat the allegations seriously and her client with respect.
