Verizon is probably taking a hit on the cost of service in order to get 5G service into as many homes as possible.

Verizon has announced that it will be launching its 5G home broadband service on October 1 across parts of Sacramento, Los Angeles, Houston, and Indianapolis, with the service to provide typical network speeds of 300Mbps and peak speeds of 1Gbps. 5G Home service uses the next generation wireless technology to offer home internet service without a cable or fiber hookup. The service will arrive with an introductory promotion offering three months for free, after which point certain Verizon Wireless smartphone customers will be charged $50/month.

"Typical" download speeds will be around 300Mbps, and the max speed of almost 1Gbps will be available "depending on location", Verizon said.

Verizon in the United States has unveiled Verizon 5G Home, which it calls a world-first. "There are no additional hardware costs". Those prices included taxes and fees, plus there are no annual contracts for 5G Home.

5G is already the most over-hyped thing since the Y2K bug so Verizon seems to have made a decision to just ride the wave. We also asked Verizon for the service's upload speeds and information about what equipment will be used in the home.

Details released of Harry and Meghan's tour Down Under
Both Meghan and Harry have been open about their desire to start a family - and that they don't want to wait too long to do so. The five nurses who attended the award ceremony in London were photographed with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex .

First adopters will be able to receive fixed broadband internet service for three months at no charge.

Verizon's network limitations have been a hot topic recently, since the Santa Clara County fire departments complained that a device with an unlimited data plan was throttled while they were fighting California's largest-ever wildfire.

The labs will launch by the end of 2018, and will be kitted out with live 5G networks to help startups, universities, and tech companies to collaborate with Verizon.

AT&T is also planning to launch a 5G home Internet service and has already begun trials.
