Spiders have blanketed a Greek lagoon in 300-meter cobwebs

A video shows the web's thick blanket cloaking trees, bushes and shrubberies near the shore, with a quick shot of two spiders that appear to be mating.

A beach in the Greek town of Aitoliko has been blanketed with spider webs stretching more than 300 yards. "But I have never seen any spider webs this big in my life".

"These spiders are not risky for humans and will not cause any damage to the area's flora", she assures.

A university professor said it's as if the spiders are "having a party" due to the conditions.

Experts say it is a seasonal occurrence, reported the BBC, with the spiders swinging into action because of the warmer weather in the region.

Iran vows 'crushing response' after gunmen kill 29 at army parade
An Iranian military spokesman said the gunmen were trained by two Gulf Arab states and had ties to the United States and Israel. Rouhani said: " Iran's answer (to this attack) is forthcoming within the framework of law and our national interests".

The tiny spiders don't pose a danger to area humans or plants, Chatzaki told NewsIt, though their rising numbers may be linked to an increase in mosquito populations.

The abundant food, high temperatures and sufficient humidity made it ideal for the spiders to exploit and create a large population.

"They mate, they reproduce and provide a whole new generation", she said.

Local Giannis Giannakopoulos shared pictures Monday of what he described as a "strange and unprecedented spectacle" on his Facebook page, garnering dozens of shares. "The spiders will have their party and will soon die", added Maria. Luckily, she said, they won't be around for long. Called the Tetragnatha genus, the spiders are just 0.7 inches long.
