Umpires Reportedly Considering Boycott Of Future Serena Williams Matches

Serena Williams embraces Naomi Osaka as she cries at the presentations. More

Serena Williams isn't getting much support from the men on the United States' Davis Cup team over her insinuation that sexism played a role in the code violations she received during the US Open final.

Osaka and Williams were together after the match as Osaka was awarded the trophy for winning.

The WTA and USTA appeared to support Williams after her outbursts in a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Naomi Osaka. "She said was proud of me and to know the crowd weren't booing at me".

"This week has been a dream come to life, and I'm so honored to represent Japan and Nissan on the world stage", Osaka said.

"We should not let her record, as glowing as it is, overshadow the fact that on this day, in this match Williams was wrong", Ings wrote in The Sydney Morning Herald. Others chose to point out that Williams' actions had taken away the spotlight from the 20-year-old first time victor Osaka, who became the first Japanese to win a grand slam title.

Count US Open men's champion Novak Djokovic among those who believe chair umpire Carlos Ramos went too far in issuing three rules violations against Serena Williams in the women's final.

Afterwards, Williams suggested that Ramos and other umpires are tolerant of worse criticism from male players. Williams shot back and called him a "liar" and a "thief".

Man United reportedly considering controversial swap deal for Paulo Dybala
After identifying Toby Alderweireld as his top choice, Mourinho then moved on to the likes of Boateng, Harry Maguire, Yerry Mina, Diego Godin and Kurt Zouma.

According to McEnroe, Ramos should not have given Williams a violation for breaking her racquet and should have warned her early on about what would happen if she did not move on. Ramos penalized her a game for verbal abuse, something virtually unheard of in such an important match.

"Don't you worry about me!" he added.

"But in my mind, I was sort of, I really wanted to know what was going on".

Roger Federer was fined just $1,500 for a berating an umpire with an expletive during the 2009 U.S. Open, and Adams pointed out that the amount of fines is at the discretion of the administrator of the four Grand Slam events, not the USTA.

Ramos, who is from Portugal, spoke briefly to Portuguese newspaper Tribuna Expresso this week.

As the International Tennis Federation and Ramos' fellow umpires leapt to his defence, citing the $17,000 in fines that officials levied against Williams as proof of his competency, Simon joined tennis icon Billie Jean King in applauding Williams for bringing officiating hypocrisy to light.

The Japanese player said she thought the jeers were directed at her, and began to get a bit overwhelmed by the situation, having missed Williams's argument with the umpire.
