Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will appear in front of Congress after all, next Wednesday, for a transcribed interview, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) announced Thursday evening.

Rosenstein has been a central figure for the House Judiciary Committee, House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and House Select Committee on Intelligence in their joint investigation, begun previous year into decisions the Department of Justice and FBI made during two major investigations tied to the 2016 election.

Rod Rosenstein was sworn in as deputy attorney general in April 2017.

The announcement comes just hours after House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows, an Oversight subcommittee chairman, called on Rosenstein to resign, citing his unwillingness to cooperate with the panels' investigation. The transcript of the proceeding will be released to the public after a review by the intelligence community to scrub any classified information.

Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots combined are worth $1.3 billion
That honor goes to a 2016 Powerball jackpot, which clocked in at $1.586 billion (although it was shared by three winners). Officials raised the estimated jackpot Thursday for the second time due to strong sales ahead of Friday night's drawing.

Goodlatte said last month that "there are many questions we have for Mr. Rosenstein, including questions about allegations made against him in a recent news article".

"I committed I would ensure the investigation was appropriate and independent and reached the right result, whatever it may be", Rosenstein said. Rosenstein has denied the reports are accurate.

People should have faith in whatever the findings of Robert Mueller's investigation are, Rosenstein told The Wall Street Journal in an interview published Wednesday, as he waved off Republican and conservative attacks of the probe. But Trump later declared Rosenstein's job safe.

"Basic operational questions about Robert Mueller's administration of the special counsel investigation", Fitton said, adding he would also ask Mueller about the length of the probe and why he's "targeting" President Trump despite a lack of evidence of any Russian collusion.
