LG showcases flagship smartphone V40 with five camera lenses

LG V40 ThinQ Back

LG's V40 ThinQ smartphone is a rumour no longer - the South Korean company has officially unveiled its five-camera handset, detailing all of the bits and pieces we can expect inside it - as well as giving us a fair look at what we can expect to see in the LG G8 when it's announced. While LG has struggled to release a phone with the "it" factor to really take on Samsung and Apple, if you're looking for something that can deliver a phenomenal multimedia experience, this might just be it.

In terms of specifications, the LG V40 ThinQ sports a 6.4-inch QHD OLED FullVision display having an aspect ratio of 19:5:9. You can leverage all of their abilities individually or even combine them with a neat camera trick LG has bundled.

Another feature which we already informed you is their Cine Shot Camera Mode.

V40 has an 8 MP f/1.9 main shooter and a secondary 5 MP f/2.4 camera. The smartphone comes backed with 3,300 mAh which is higher than G7 ThinQ yet with an OLED panel, you might need to keep a tab on the battery life and yes, LG V40 ThinQ supports wireless charging along with usual cable-backed charging.

LG V40 ThinQ's Cine Shot is similar to third-party apps now available on App Store.

We will update this feature once we review the V40 in full, as well as when we hear about United Kingdom pricing and availability. Dimensions measure 158.7 x 75.8 x 7.7mm and it weighs 169g. The company has retained the 3.5mm audio jack in the lG V40 ThinQ and it also comes equipped with Hi-Fi Quad DAC and Boombox Speaker which the company bought in G7 ThinQ.

The V40 ThinQ features three cameras on the rear and two on the front. This process eached microscopic pits into the tempered glass back of the LG V40 ThinQ that is said to give it a smoother matte finish that won't be slipper. There's also room for storage expansion using the microSD card slot. Available in the US starting October 18, the cheapest LG V40 ThinQ costs $900 or roughly P48,893. To the rear side, LG has added a 12MP primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilisation, 1.4-micron, f/1.5 aperture and PDAF.

The phone is available in four different colours like New Aurora Black, Carmine Red, New Moroccan Blue and New Platinum Grey.

The back camera consists of a matrix of 16, 12 and 12 MP, with angles of 107, 45 and 78 degrees, fast focusing system and dual led flash.

If you still can't choose the right camera, there is also a Triple Shot feature. The phone will however be running Android Oreo out of the box and not Android Pie, with no timelines available as well for the upgrade to the latest Android version. The LG V40 instead has horizontal cameras. The device also boasts a MIL-STD 810G certification and IP68 dust and water resistance. Users can create a bokeh effect selfie and there's an on-screen slider to adjust the background blur.
