Mike The Situation Sorrentino Sentenced for Tax Evasion

From the "Jersey Shore" house to a jailhouse?

The Sorrentino brothers were sentenced Friday morning after having pleaded guilty in January to multiple charges of tax fraud associated with nearly $9million in income.

Trump engaged in tax schemes as he reaped riches from father
The Times has not seen Donald Trump's personal tax returns , which he has so far refused to release - unlike past USA presidents. But the partnership between Donald Trump and his father was about more than the pursuit, and the preservation, of riches.

Michael Sorrentino's attorneys had sought probation, while prosecutors wanted a sentence of 14 months.

Mike and his brother Marc Sorrentino were indicted in September 2014 after they allegedly failed to pay taxes on $8.9 million in income from 2010 to 2012. The siblings were accused of underreporting their earnings to avoid paying federal taxes.

He and other cast members reunited this spring for "Jersey Shore Family Vacation". Videos on social media showed the reality television stars hugging Sorrentino as he walked into the courthouse.

Michael Sorrentino apologized to the court during brief remarks and said he has overcome substance abuse.

"Tax crimes, plain and simple, are an outright theft from the hardworking American public", said John Tafur of IRS Criminal Investigation. Last year, he signed a bill capping the amount of state money universities can pay for speakers, because Rutgers University paid "Jersey Shore" cast member Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi $32,000 in 2011.
