Saudi crown prince ordered operation against missing journalist

Turkish newspaper names 15 Saudis in case of missing reporter

The kingdom dismisses the allegation as "baseless".

"In both calls they asked for more details and for the Saudi government to be transparent in the investigation process", the White House said.

CCTV via Hurriyet / Associated Press This image from CCTV video obtained by the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reportedly shows Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2, 2018. Government sources said at the weekend that police believed Khashoggi was killed by a team specially sent to Istanbul, thought to consist of 15 Saudis.

However, Saudi Arabia has offered no evidence to support its contention that the writer left the consulate unharmed and vanished into Istanbul while his fiancée waited impatiently outside.

"I think the United States of America stands ready to assist in any way", Pence said.

News channel 24 aired the video, suggesting that Khashoggi was inside of the black Mercedes Vito, which resembled one parked outside of the consulate when the writer walked in on October 2.

The footage all seemed to come from surveillance cameras, which would have been posted throughout the district housing the Saudi consulate and other diplomatic missions. The passenger manifest, obtained by the pro-government Daily Sabah paper, also lists a senior intelligence officer and two Saudi air force officers. It was only then officially confirmed he has been in jail for the past year.

The Sabah newspaper, which is close to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, published images of what it referred to as the "assassination squad" apparently taken at passport control.

A Wider Lens Is Needed to Treat Those With Mental Illness
It's important because struggling with mental health can have a long-lasting negative impact on many other areas of life. According to published figures, one in five of Australians aged 16-85 experience a mental illness in any year.

"The administration is so close to Saudi Arabia", Scarborough told Ignatius.

A source told the Post that prior to Khashoggi going missing, USA intelligence intercepted Saudi officials' communications, which revealed a plan to capture Khashoggi and get him to Saudi Arabia.

The Post report, citing an unnamed "person familiar with the information", said the intercepted communications showed that as yet unidentified Saudi officials wanted to lure Mr. Khashoggi back to Saudi Arabia and lay hands on him there. He said his aides have been in contact with Khashoggi's fiancee, Hatice Cengiz, and hope to set up a meeting with her at the White House. She acknowledged the writer first visited the consulate on September 28 "despite being somewhat concerned that he could be in danger". "I also urge Saudi Arabia, especially King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to show the same level of sensitivity and release CCTV footage from the consulate", she added.

European Union's foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini told reporters in Lisbon that "we are 100 percent behind the American position".

Spending more than a year in self-imposed exile in the United States - away from his country, his family and his loved ones - had taken a toll on him.

National security adviser John Bolton and senior adviser Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law, talked with Salman on Tuesday, while Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had a follow-up call with the Saudi leader to reiterate the USA demand for information about the case, the White House said.

Saudi officials have denied Kashoggi was killed within the consulate and say he left shortly after arriving to retrieve a document related to his upcoming wedding.
