Software bug causes Pixel 3 XL to gain a second notch

[Update: Fix coming] Hilarious Pixel 3 XL bug adds a second notch to the side of the screen

The image shared by Mahesh Telecom on Twitter shows that the free Google Home mini will be available on the purchase of Pixel 3/Pixel 3 XL, if the consumer owns an older Pixel or Nexus device.

Though the phantom notch has so far only reared its ugly head in a few isolated instances, users have already taken to social media to post pictures of their bugged-out phone displays, including Kyle Gutschow (whose picture can be seen above) and UrAvgConsumer (seen below).

Multiple Pixel 3 XL owners are complaining that a second notch has popped up on the right side of their phone screens.

Khashoggi's fiance blames Saudi Arabia for journalist's murder, demands explanation
Some were members of a 15-man hit team, many of them Saudi intelligence operatives, who flew into Istanbul hours before Mr. Turkey is seeking the extradition of 18 Saudi suspects detained in the kingdom in connection with the October 2 killing.

A software bug on some Pixel 3 XL devices is resulting in the device growing a second, virtual notch on the side of the device. But the one thing nearly everyone agrees on is the notch: the ugly cutout is the phone's worst feature. The problem appears to be fixed with a restart or by tinkering wth the developer settings, so luckily it's nothing too serious. Google has declared that the highly anomalous bug was known and that a corresponding fix was "coming soon".

What's worse than a huge notch at the top of your phone display?

The Pixel 3 is the latest in Google's line of premium flagship smartphones. Don't worry, the second notch isn't physical, but rather a software glitch. Still annoying, but knowing that Google is aware, and that a fix is coming soon, is reassuring.
