Did Sarah Sanders post a doctored InfoWars video to justify CNN ban?

U.S. President Donald Trump gets into a heated exchange with CNN chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta as NBC correspondent Peter Alexander looks on during a post-election press conference in the East Room of the White House in Washington DC on Nove

Critics said that video - which sped up the movement of Acosta's arms in a way that dramatically changed the journalist's response - was deceptively edited to score political points.

Just yesterday, President Trump gave a remarkable press conference in which he called a question from PBS News Hour reporter Yamiche Alcindor "racist" and went on to ban CNN chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta from accessing the White House.

The White House on Wednesday suspended the press pass of a CNN's White House correspondent Jim Acosta who earlier sparred with Donald Trump at a news conference, in which the USA president branded the journalist an "enemy of the people".

If the Press Secretary is grabbing her propaganda from InfoWars, the chances of her admitting it seem close to zero.

Sanders announced in a press release distributed at 8 p.m. Wednesday ― and in a series of five tweets posted a few minutes earlier ― that the White House was confiscating Acosta's Secret Service-issued press credentials that permit entry into the White House complex.

Joy Behar said she seconded a theory saying Trump set up the altercation to distract from more pressing matters, like the co-called caravan and Democrats taking over the House of Representatives. "We will, however, never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern", Sanders said in a statement.

"(Sanders) provided fraudulent accusations and cited an incident that never happened. This unprecedented decision is a threat to our democracy and the country deserves better.

Sanders did not disclose where she obtained the video.

This clip documents an incident which took place at a July 2015 event at the White House in honor of LGBT Pride Month.

Shortly afterward, CNN said: "In an explanation, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders lied". In his thread, he's retracted the claim and said that Sanders merely shared InfoWars' doctored version.

"I worked with Jim @Acosta at CNN. I think that you can't be surprised if they're a little crunchy". "His statement, 'Pardon me, ma'am, ' is not included in the video Sanders shared", Washington Post technology reporter Drew Harwell wrote.

The video is cut so that it appears that Acosta tries to forcefully use his arm to push away the White House staffer's arm, rather than use his arm to pull back the microphone.

"In the current climate, we hope President Trump will stop insulting and denigrating reporters and media outlets, it's making journalists feel unsafe", added Radsch.

President Trump dismissed his characterization of the caravan as a "difference of opinion", adding, "I want them to come into the country, but they have to come in legally".

"There is only one enemy of the people and he sits in the Oval Office", director Rob Reiner said, in reference to the Trump telling Acosta Wednesday that CNN is the "enemy of the people".

The White House did not respond to multiple queries about the origin of the video.

Several journalists and organizations - including the American Society of News Editors, the Associated Press Media Editors and the Online News Association - demanded Acosta's press pass be reinstated.
