Honda Passport SUV making a comeback for 2019

The automaker gave a bird's-eye look at the SUV doing some off-road runs with a teaser video today and plans to unveil a closer look on its YouTube channel on Nov. 27 in advance of the Los Angeles Auto Show Nov. 30-Dec. 9.

It will be launched early next year and expand Honda's crossover lineup to four nameplates after the HR-V, CR-V and Pilot.

The Passport was developed in the USA by Honda and will be built in the USA in Lincoln, Alabama.

The original Passport, a derivative of the Isuzu Rodeo, was Honda's first SUV and was marketed from the 1994 through 2002 model years.

USA objects to United Nations condemnation of Israel Golan Heights occupation
Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, welcomed the American vote against the UN resolution condemning Israel's presence in the Golan Heights.

This model will be Honda's fourth SUV and sixth light-truck model beside the Pilot, Odyssey minivan, and Ridgeline pickup, bridging the gap between leisure driving and "weekend off-road, all-weather adventure capability".

As with other recent Honda entries, expect it to get the latest version of the Honda infotainment system, including some features like the intercom that lets parents up front talk to kids or other passengers in the back.

Honda's USA light-truck sales, up 5.3 percent this year, are on track to set a record for the fourth straight year, and exceed 700,000 for the third year in a row. Honda will build the Passport alongside the Pilot in the company's Lincoln, Alabama plant, which suggests the two SUVs may share parts. In 2017, more than 90 percent of all Honda brand vehicles sold in the US were made in North America, using domestic and globally sourced parts. Well, the SUV is making a comeback for 2019. Its overall light-truck sales are on the way to 700,000 units for the third year in a row.
