Jim Acosta is No Martyr to Journalism

President Donald Trump speaks during a news conference in the East Room at the White House in Washington Wednesday Nov. 7 2018

"I came in here as a nice person wanting to answer questions, and I had people jumping out of their seats screaming questions at me", said Trump, who talked for almost 90 minutes despite the run-ins with reporters.

The White House has stood by its decision to revoke the access of CNN reporter Jim Acosta after a fiery standoff with the president, and defended sharing an apparently doctored video on social media.

Abba Shapiro did a side-by-side and frame-by-frame analysis of AP's video from President Donald Trump's contentious news conference Wednesday and the version spread on Twitter by Trump press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

In his weekly column, published to his website Wednesday, before the White House announced action against the reporter, O'Reilly concluded that "the Trump administration would be in the right if it pulled Acosta's credentials".

When Acosta challenged the president on his use of the word "invasion" to describe a caravan of mainly Honduran migrants and asylum seekers heading to the U.S. border, Trump launched an attack on the CNN journalist, as an aide tried to physically remove the microphone from Acosta's hands. Instead, Acosta continued with a second question about the Russian investigation, which Trump shrugged off with another curt answer. She gets publicity and then she gets a pay raise or she gets a contract with, I think, CNN, but she's very nasty.

CNN Vice President of Communications and Digital Partnership Matt Dornic said it was "absolutely shameful" that Sanders had released a "doctored" video. "A very special place", Trump said.

Trump has frequently attacked the media, including during his presidential campaign.

Sanders, who hasn't said where the tweeted video came from, noted that it clearly shows Acosta made contact with the intern. "I will continue to ask the questions that affect America, all of America".

Long, 28, lived with his mother, neighbors told police, describing the suspect as a troubled man who battled fits of rage. Ms Teylor Whittler managed to escape the carnage unhurt. "So he knew what he was doing, and he also had flawless form".

Trump also had some (more) choice words for two other CNN personalities. "And the way you treat other people is disgusting".

On Friday morning, before leaving on a trip to France to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, Trump stopped to speak to members of the press.

These comments come after a very contentious week between the White House and Jim Acosta.

Waving his finger, Trump berated him.

A frame-by-frame comparison of the video shows that Sander's clip has been edited to speed up Acosta's arm movement as he touches the woman's arm.

"There are embarrassingly few black and hispanic reporters in the WH press corps and four have been personally insulted by the President this week", he wrote.

Acosta has served as a White House correspondent for CNN since 2013 when he covered the Obama administration.
