Porsche 911 Undergoes Final Stress Tests

New Porsche 911: fresh images of 992 model released…

The latest prototypes, which show both the Carrera and Carrera S, are nearly completely devoid of camouflage gear, and they also reveal most of the interior including a new digital dash. The eight-generation Porsche 911 will be launched in Europe in early 2019 and the Italian carmaker has shared the pictures it took during the testing.

Fleets of Porsche 911 test mules have been roaming the globe from very cold to very hot areas, separated by up to 85 degrees Celsius temperature gaps. At the end of the tests, Porsche says it will have driven the new 911 for about 3 million kilometers, or 1.86 million miles. They have also endured traffic jams in major cities (including San Francisco, Arizona, and Munich) and also have been tested on the race tracks (which we presume to be the Nurburgring). The new driver assistance systems and enhanced connectivity has also been assessed.

In hot countries such as the Gulf States in the Middle East or Death Valley in the U.S., the air conditioning, thermal management, and combustion behaviour need to pass functional tests in temperatures up to 50 degrees Celsius - so the interior components must not expand or contract and make noises when exposed to heat, for example.

On the other hand, the cold start, heating and air conditioning, traction, handling and braking behaviour were tested in minus 35 degrees of Finland and the European Arctic Circle.

Porsche has tested the 911's limits in all kinds of extreme conditions, including temperatures below 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

The vehicles reach their geographically lowest point in Death Valley, which descends to around 90 metres below sea level; while the thin air on Mount Evans, Colorado, with a height of 4,300 metres, challenges the biturbo charging and the fuel system.

Also worth mentioning that the Porsche company in honor of its 70th anniversary, has released a unique version of the model 911 (993) Turbo S. This auto exists in a single copy.
