Corbyn faces call to move vote of no confidence in May

Jeremy Corbyn

It follows the decision to defer a vote on Brexit on Monday. He added: "Having told the media this morning that she's made progress, can she now update the house on what changes she has secured to her deal?"

It comes as opposition leaders accused Mrs May of showing contempt for Parliament.

Mr Gardiner said tabling an immediate vote on Monday night would have "galvanised Tory backbenchers in support of the Prime Minister".

The correspondence stated: "We believe that this deferral shows a contempt for Parliament".

"The Prime Minister's deal should come before the House of Commons immediately so that it can be voted down and we can replace Tory chaos with a solution that will protect jobs, living standards and Scotland's place in Europe".

The Labour leadership however, has been cautious about tabling a confidence motion, warning of the difficulties of forcing a general election under the terms of the Fixed-term Parliaments Act, originally passed by the coalition under David Cameron.

They have been joined by MEP Derek Vaughan and Lord Hain.

The letter echoes calls from other opposition parties - including the SNP and the Liberal Democrats - for Labour to move a no confidence motion. He says "the government has lost control of events and is in complete disarray".

Will Fiorentina continue the fight?
Another 16 goals brought Lorenzo Insigne, 13 goals went from Jose Callejon and 11 from Marek Hamšík. Forecasts Bookmakers consider Napoli as the main favorite - the coefficient for the victory of the hosts is 1.28.

Mr Corbyn said that when Mrs May left the country, the Commons was about to start day four of the five-day debate on the Brexit deal.

"If Labour, as official opposition, lodges motion of no confidence in this incompetent government tomorrow, [the SNP] will support & we can then work together to give people the chance to stop Brexit in another vote".

May will reportedly cancel a parliamentary vote approving her preferred arrangement for leaving the European Union, which was scheduled for Tuesday in the face of widespread opposition from within her party and the opposition.

Earlier, Ogmore MP Chris Elmore called the delay to the vote "ridiculous".

Jeremy Corbyn has not yet responded.

Lib Dem leader Sir Vince Cable said the United Kingdom government was doing plenty of planning for a no-deal Brexit, which it did not want but thought possible, but "no planning appears to be taking place for a people's vote which we believe is highly probable".

Speaking at the People's Vote press conference before the assurance was issued, Mr Blackford said: "We know exactly what the Prime Minister is up to, because we're now aware that we may not be looking at a vote until close to, if not on the date of 21 January next year".

Yesterday, Labour MP Jenny Chapman let slip that Labour would be tabling a motion of no confidence this side of Christmas.
