David Attenborough warns civilisations will COLLAPSE if climate change not addressed

Presidents of at-risk states such as Honduras Nigeria and Bangladesh are expected at COP24 talks

Naturalist Sir David Attenborough sounded the climate change hysteria alarm on Monday at the opening ceremony of United Nations, warning that civilization is about to collapse.

Attenborough told the delegates: "Right now, we are facing a man-made disaster of global scale".

At his address at the climate talks yesterday, Mr Attenborough said: "The people have spoken: leaders of the world, you must lead, the continuation of our civilisations and the natural world upon which we depend are in your hands".

The two-week 24th conference of the parties to the UN Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC) technically started on Sunday, but Monday saw the high-level grand opening that also emphasised implementation of guidelines to build trust among nations.

The conference, attended by 30,000 delegates from 196 countries including Ireland, is being held in Katowice, in the heart of Poland's coal-mining region.

It was the COP21 which lead to the famed Paris agreement in 2015, the legally binding agreement to climate change where countries are obliged to keep global warming well below 2 degrees celsius.

The U.N. released a dire report in October that warned of severe, climate-related effects by as early as 2040 unless there is dramatic action to curb global emissions.

The report offers the latest accounting of national mitigation efforts and the ambitions countries have presented in their Nationally Determined Contributions, which form the foundation of the Paris Agreement.

Africa is especially vulnerable to climate change as evidenced by the 2017 drought in East Africa and the drought South Africa experienced in 2018.

"Even as we witness devastating climate impacts causing havoc across the world, we are still not doing enough, nor moving fast enough to prevent irreversible and catastrophic climate disruption".

"They're supporting you in making tough decisions but they're also willing to make sacrifices in their daily lives".

Some have also said that the article is a result of jealousy and also spewing hatred against brown skin and Indian women. Here is some of the judgement that the article passed on Priyanka, who married Nick Jonas in Jodhpur over the weekend.

This is far from a given: the dust is still settling from US President Donald Trump's decision to ditch the Paris accord.

"We are here to enable the world to act together on climate change", he said.

The Arc de Triomphe is illuminated in green with the words "Paris Agreement is Done", to celebrate the Paris U.N. COP21 Climate Change agreement in Paris, France, Nov. 4, 2016.

Africans expect "real action" on climate change, said delegates from the African group, as an global climate conference began in the southern Polish city of Katowice on Monday.

It said about $50 billion would be earmarked for climate adaptation, a recognition that some adverse effects of global warming could not be avoided anymore but required a change in practice.

"We need to act urgently, and with audacity".

While everyone agrees that the problems are real, there is no clear cut path or plan of action to reach the goals enumerated by the UN.

Attenborough's speech comes at a crossroad for global climate action.

Calling Trump "meshugge", Yiddish for "crazy", for deciding to withdraw from the Paris accord, Schwarzenegger insisted that the climate deal has widespread support at local and state levels in the US.

"Countries must go beyond the bare minimum and take transformative action if we are to achieve the goals set out in the Paris Agreement".

Mohamed Adow, climate lead for the Christian Aid charity, said richer nations needed to donate funds to allow developing countries to make the leap to renewables.
