Israeli forces kill Palestinian suspected over West Bank shooting

The warning followed a number of recent terror attacks in the region, including a shooting earlier in the day in which two Israeli soldiers were killed and two other people were severely injured.

Israeli security forces on Wednesday (Dec 12) shot dead a Palestinian suspected in the shooting of seven Israelis including a pregnant woman whose baby later died.

At around 5am local time on Thursday morning, Israeli police forces killed a Palestinian after he allegedly stabbed two Israeli border police officers in occupied East Jerusalem's Old City.

It came hours after Israeli forces killed two Palestinians in the West Bank.

One of the Palestinians was Salah Barghouti, a 29-year-old accused of shooting at Israelis on Sunday at a bus stop near the Ofra settlement.

Israeli forces killed a Palestinian terror suspect wanted in a drive-by shooting near Ofra just hours after an Israeli baby delivered prematurely as a result of the weekend attack died. The Shin Bet security agency said in a statement that the operation was a joint effort with the IDF. Two soldiers were killed and at least two other people, including a soldier, were wounded and the attacker fled.

The house near Nablus where Naalwa was found was peppered with bullet holes after the raid, an AFP journalist at the scene said.

Last month, a West Bank military court indicted Na'alwa's mother and brother on charges that they knew of the suspect's plan and did not prevent the offense.

Israel accuses Naalweh of shooting to death two Israelis and wounding another at an attack on a West Bank industrial zone in October.

Since Sunday's attack, Israeli forces have made a series of incursions into central Ramallah, where Abbas's Palestinian Authority is based.

"Likewise, the prime minister decided this evening to legalize the status of thousands of homes in West Bank settlements which were built in good faith and whose legal status was not regulated until now, some for several decades", the Prime Minister's Office said.

The two Israelis were employees of the recycling company where Naalwa worked.

The two officers wounded were not in life-threatening condition, a police spokesman said, adding that shortly before being killed, the Palestinian had attempted to stab a civilian.

One of them shot and killed the assailant, a 26-year-old resident of the West Bank.

"The worldwide community bears part of the responsibility for the aggression by the occupation and the settlers because of its silence toward these attacks", said Palestinian government spokesperson Youssef Al-Mahmoud.

Around 600,000 Israelis now live in settlements there considered illegal by the global community.
