‘Pokemon Go’ is finally getting trainer battles

After years of teases and promises that PbP battles were on the way, a tweet today from developer Niantic finally seems to show that the new competitive battle mode is almost ready to launch.

One of the most anticipated features in "Pokemon Go" might finally make its way to the popular mobile game soon.

The latest tweet on the official Pokemon GO Twitter account has gamers excited, and for good reason. Following the response to the initial tweet, Niantic released some more information on the system in a series of tweets.

Along with the legendary pokemon, "Pokemon Go" players will encounter familiar field research tasks which Niantic have chosen based on their popularity with players.

In truth, Niantic has shared no details about how trainer battles will work or when they'll actually be added to the game. In the Great League, only Pokémon with a CP of 1,500 or less can enter. Not only are "Trainer Battles" on their way, they'll be coupled with so-called "Battle Leagues" with CP caps, allowing every Pokemon in your collection a chance to shine. The Ultra League will have a limit that's a thousand points higher.

The above image in the tweet seems to show a player encountering another player for a PvP battle. We are not sure what other features will the company introduce. However, there has not been a release date for when the patch will be out.
