Trump Weighs 2nd North Korea Summit as Possible Missile Site Appears

North Korean sends top diplomat to key ally China

New satellite images have revealed that North Korea has significantly expanded a key long-range missile base located in a remote mountainous area, despite ongoing talks this year with the USA over the country's nuclear disarmament.

But a report by the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey said there had been construction on a new facility 7 miles away from the older Yeongjeo-dong site that had not been previously publicly identified.

"We watch North Korea very closely", Pentagon spokesperson Lt. Col. Chris Logan told CNN. "Beijing thinks the summit has [provided momentum] to reverse the deterioration of its relations with Washington, so Beijing is willing to do more to consolidate the results", he said.

Wait.haven't we heard this before?

Its state-owned newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, said "sanctions regime by adversaries would never work ... self-sufficiency has always been our party's consistent strategy", playing down the impact of the United Nations sanctions regime on North Korea's economy and calling for the sanctions to be lifted. But Lewis and Schmerler said that in recent years North Korea had significantly expanded what appeared to be another missile base in Hoejung-ni.

The latest CNN analysis is in addition to these past reports.

"Whatever Kim says about his desire for denuclearization, North Korea continues to produce and deploy nuclear armed missiles", he added, The Telegraph reported.

Tua Tagovailoa and Kyler Murray split honors at College Football Awards
Murray leads the country in total offense (4,945 yards), points responsible for (306) and passing efficiency (205.7). The last five Walter Camp winners won the Heisman Trophy and the last four Maxwell winners have won the Heisman.

Members of the Kim dynasty have promised that they would denuclearize and then backtracked on six separate occasions in 1985, 1992, 1994, 2005, 2007, and 2012. Trump's National Security Advisor John Bolton said the North has not lived up to those commitments yet. On Saturday, he told reporters that his next meeting with Kim was likely to happen in January or February.

Trump and other administration officials have said sanctions against North Korea should remain in place until a deal is finalized.

But diplomacy has since come to a halt amid disputes over a US demand that North Korea first produce a full inventory of its nuclear weapons and take other denuclearization steps before winning significant outside rewards. Analysts said that by relaxing its demands ahead of a second summit, the USA may have blinked first.

"This is one of the important locations in North Korea our military is monitoring in cooperation with the United States", Roh Jae-cheon, a South Korean military spokesman, said Thursday about the North Korean base. That includes missiles capable of reaching not just California, but anywhere in the United States.

The base itself is strung along a narrow valley.

"Up through the valley there are a pair of hardened "drive-through" shelters that were covered with soil and had trees planted on them to disguise them".

"There are five entrances to underground tunnels that may be used to store missiles", the report states.
