Harris County Sheriff's Office in Houston shows Larry D. Woodruffe. The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the 24-year-old Woodruffe was charged Tuesday Jan. 8 2019 with capital murder in the Dec. 30 slaying of 7-y

A suspected child killer is now behind bars facing murder charges in the shooting death of 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes. The Harris County Sheriff's Office say 24-year-old Larry D. Woodruffe was charged Tuesday with capital murder in the December 30 slaying of Jazmine Barnes. Woodruffe is now in jail on drug possession charges unrelated to the shooting, but is under investigation for this crime.

20, was previously charged with capital murder after he allegedly confessed to taking part in the shooting.

Police suspect that Black was driving the getaway vehicle in the drive by shooting, and he was caught after a routine traffic stop for not using his turn signal. Based on a tip provided by King, the police apprehended Eric Black and Larry Woodruffe and charged them with the murder.

Barnes' family may have misidentified the assailants because it was dark and the shooting happened quickly, Gonzalez said. "Remember there would be no flowers unless there was some rain", said LaPorsha Washington, Jazmine's mother.

The shooting was most likely a case of "mistaken identity", Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Sunday.

He claims the second suspect Larry Woodruffe, 24, was the only other person in the auto, and was the one who shot from the passenger side. Jazmine's family had identified a white man as the shooter.

Pep Guardiola told Manchester City stars not to let up against Burton
Oleksandr Zinchenko says Manchester City were hungry for even more goals in Wednesday's 9-0 win over Burton Albion. Holders Chelsea were given a home game against one of two lower-league teams, Sheffield Wednesday or Luton.

Prosecutors say Woodruffe and Black mistakenly thought they were attacking people they'd fought at a club hours earlier when they shot at Jazmine and her family.

After Black Lives Matter activist and Intercept columnist Shaun King implied that a man unconnected with the murder of a young girl may have committed the crime, the man's family claim they received death threats on social media.

Jazmine was shot in the head as her mother drove her and her siblings on a shopping trip.

People spent the morning filing past Jazmine's open casket at the Community of Faith Church before a choir started the funeral just after noon. The Sheldon Independent School District -- where Jazmine was a student at Monahan Elementary - has urged attendees to wear purple, in Jazmine's memory.

Hailey says the truth is out and the case has nothing to do with her uncle. They shined through moments of darkness at the funeral.

"I just want to believe that all of us will be better, that all of us will work harder, all of us will strive to make this world a safer place for our children", said Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.
