'Legend' Murray can be proud of achievements - Federer

Goodbye to a great How Murray won the hearts of the nation

For Roger Federer, it's a well-worn experience.

Murray revealed on Friday he is still troubled by the hip injury that has plagued him for the last 18 months and he plans to retire after Wimbledon in the summer.

Federer begins his Australian Open title defence on Monday against Denis Istomin.

Melbourne Park remains a special place for Osaka as the Australian Open was the first Grand Slam where she got into the main draw through the qualifiers in 2016.

Second seeds Rafael Nadal and Angelique Kerber - both former champions - also play on Monday.

Murray has won Wimbledon twice during his career and Federer is hoping the three-time Grand Slam champion can play long enough to say goodbye on the grass courts where the Swiss has won a record eight titles. He's targeting retirement at Wimbledon, if he can go that far.

Current British number one tennis star Kyle Edmund said: 'For me he's been my biggest role model out of any tennis player. "It just maybe looks that way".

From the moment he won his first matches at Wimbledon as an 18-year-old in 2005 and picked up his first title in San Jose in 2006, Murray has lived his professional life in the spotlight, the great hope for tennis in Britain, a country starved of success for so long. If I am able to make that happen in a good way, that hopefully it will give me the chance to help me on my game longer term. We've seen so many years of Andy Murray being one of the fittest guys on the tour. We like him. He doesn't have many enemies, to be quite honest.

Woman With Rare Condition Can't Hear Men's Voices
Those with RSHL generally have issues hearing low-frequency sounds; she can only hear high-frequency sounds. And while that might seem enviable to some, the hearing loss could carry serious medical repercussions.

"It's a tough one, but one down the road he can look back on and be incredibly proud of everything he has achieved". As victor of the last two majors, he's a strong contender to win in Melbourne Park again and become the first man with three streaks of three or more consecutive Grand Slam championships. "I don't know if it's ever going to get better than that, because that was it for me".

"I talked to him a little bit yesterday actually, ran into him at the hotel".

Opening on the outside courts, Boulter plays Russian Ekaterina Makarova and Watson takes on Croatian 31st seed Petra Martic.

"I haven't seen her play a match, so I don't really know", Wozniacki responded when quizzed about the American's form. I think it will happen one day. I am a positive guy.

And Federer believes a combination of factors have aligned in his favour - some out of his control, others thanks to years of meticulous fine-tuning.

Murray, 31, struggled to share the news at the Australian Open in Melbourne, which he withdrew from a year ago due to injury.

Serena Williams was unable to defend her title here previous year because she was taking time out after having a baby, and finished the season with back-to-back runner-up finishes at Wimbledon and the USA open.

Honest, courteous and self-deprecating, Murray always has been well-liked by his fellow players, as nearly all of them who were scheduled for media day here Saturday noted.
