Maurizio Sarri says Callum Hudson-Odoi playing with maturity

Nicolo Barella is understood to be a target for Chelsea

Bayern Munich are turning up the heat in their pursuit of Callum Hudson-Odoi after sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed their interest in signing him.

Asked about the decision to play Hudson-Odoi with so much pressure on the player, Blues boss Maurizio Sarri said: "He is on the pitch because he played well in the last match and he is doing very well in training".

Hudson-Odoi has impressed when he has featured for Chelsea this season, including assists for both goals in the 2-0 FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest.

Now the Bundesliga champions have come in with a fourth bid of £35 million and, according to Goal, they've promised the player he'll be given the number 10 shirt if he joins them.

"I don't think so, because he is an English player".

Under changes in the bid reached in negotiations, he will have until Wednesday afternoon to make a $120 million cash payment. The bid would have kept 425 stores open and offered jobs to 50,000 of its remaining employees.

The club have other priorities and Barella is not a player Chelsea are planning to sign in the winter window and a move to England could be more likely to be offered by Manchester United.

If Bayern Munich were interested in allowing the player to remain at Stamford Bridge for the next six months, though, it is unlikely they would have pushed so hard to sign him in January. "To stay here is better for him". You know very well in this club there is a rule: The renewal of players over 30 is usually one year.

Not only have his performances of late not been good enough to justify his continual selection, but he's also prohibiting Callum Hudson-Odoi from being given the regular game-time that he deserves.

"But when you're getting wanted by the manager to stay at the club, and the manager at your current club doesn't have a say on the future, I just find it absolutely baffling". He is improving and I am very happy with him. Very good defensive phase, but very good'.
