NYK, Kings talk Kanter-Randolph swap

Knicks talking possible Kanter trade with Kings

Kanter carries an $18.6 million salary this season, while Randolph is earning $11.7 million.

The New York Knicks and Sacramento Kings might be ready to swap expiring contracts.

The Knicks and Kings are reportedly discussing a trade that would send center Enes Kanter to Sacramento in exchange for power forward Zach Randolph. The Knicks aren't tanking, but they are shifting the focus of this season to player development.

Seeing limited minutes but carrying an enormous paycheck, it may not be surprising if the New York Knicks suddenly deal off Enes Kanter to teams with sensible offers. Hence why a third team might be needed.

Although Wojnarowski's sources say a Randolph for Kanter trade isn't close, both players should consider preparing themselves for a move prior to the February 7 National Basketball Association trade deadline.

Manny Machado: Decision Coming Within a Week According to Reports
Levine also reported that "momentum is building" for the White Sox to land Machado despite a front-runner not being clear. Los Angeles traded Matt Kemp and Yasiel Puig, seemingly to make room for Harper in the outfield.

Kanter proved to be a deadly addition to the Thunder's bench, although he was surprisingly traded to the Knicks as part of the blockbuster 2017 deal that took Carmelo Anthony to Oklahoma City. The report noted a Western Conference team like the Clippers and the Kings would make sense.

For Kanter, it provides a much-needed change of scenery as his playing time continues to be sporadic under first-year head coach David Fizdale.

The NBA trade deadline is February 7.

During that span, the 26-year old is averaging around 12 points, eight rebounds, and one assist per contest while making around 54% of his shots from the floor and 78% of his shots from the free-throw line. But if the Knicks can manage to sneak Courtney Lee or Tim Hardaway Jr. into a deal, this trade would become a home run.

Randolph, 37, averaged 14.5 points and 6.7 rebounds over 59 games last season.
